Halquist Stone Field Trip September 2011
Our Our class visited Haquist Quarry in Sussex Wisconsin. Halquist offers a full line of buiding and landscape stone and we were able to collect 12 rock samples. During our tour we even felt a blast from dynamite in the quarry from across the street. It was funny to see the look on our faces when the ground shook. We learned about the Silurian reef and touched many fossils.
"Coprolite" is a scientific name for the fossilized excrement, feces or droppings of ancient animals. Yes, we did hold coprolite at Ace's ll Rock Shop. While at Aces ll we learned about Wisconsin's state fossil, Trilobite, mineral, Galena, and state rock, Red Granite. We also were able to shop!
